Accurate diagnosis starts with mastering the tools, understanding the systems, and applying precise test and measurement techniques. Module 1 of the Golden Hour Diagnostics program is designed to equip technicians with the skills to go beyond simply reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). You’ll learn how to make best use of tools like multimeters and scan tools to uncover the root cause of vehicle problems while developing a deeper understanding of how components and systems interact within modern vehicles.
Vehicle diagnostics isn’t just about what the codes say—it’s about understanding the “why” behind the fault. This module focuses on building the essential knowledge and structured approaches you need to achieve accurate, first-time fixes, prevent stress, reduce comebacks, and increase workshop efficiency.
By connecting the function of individual components to their role within the larger system, you’ll enhance your diagnostic performance, decision-making and test and measurement skills. Through practical, hands-on training, this module lays the groundwork for efficient and reliable diagnostics, setting the stage for the advanced fault-finding techniques in Module 2.

A brilliant course, having attended many courses at Technical Topics, the 4 rights and the Core Diagnostic Process are not new concepts to myself, with this course it goes into fine detail of these principles and the fantastic benefits of using James’ ruthless logic, and The Core Diagnostic Process, a process in which is a series of ordered tests to determine what is correct with the vehicle (at some point, driven by logic, correctly ordered testing and data to support decisions) where you will arrive at the correct cause of the fault. The course also highlights personal misconceptions and areas of personal development which l urgently require to address.
