Diagnostics in the Golden Hour is a 3 course learning route which will show you techniques, principles and processes to ensure that you profit from diagnostics. This route will take you through our unique and proven approach to fault finding required to be successful in diagnostics.
Each module has been designed by our diagnostic experts to give you real world skills and processes you can implement as soon as you get back to work.
As with all our courses, these modules have a strong focus on developing practical and real-world applicable skills. Techs will spend the majority of time in the workshop, getting hands-on time with vehicles and equipment.
Module 1
The Foundations of Test and Measurement
Designed to equip technicians with the skills to go beyond simply reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). You’ll learn how to make best use of tools like multimeters and scan tools to uncover the root cause of vehicle problems while developing a deeper understanding of how components and systems interact within modern vehicles.
Module 2
Developing Diagnostic Process Routines
This module is focused on advancing your diagnostic techniques by developing structured, technician-devised diagnostic routines. This course introduces a scientific approach to fault-finding ensuring your methods are logical, repeatable, and effective across a wide range of vehicle problems.
Module 3
Achieving Right-First-Time Diagnosis
The last module you will refine both your test and measurement techniques and your diagnostic processes and hone them into a complete system for achieving consistent, right-first-time vehicle diagnostics. This advanced module is designed for technicians who are committed to delivering precision, efficiency, and excellence in every diagnostic job—from the initial customer enquiry to the final first-time fix.

A brilliant course, having attended many courses at Technical Topics, the 4 rights and the Core Diagnostic Process are not new concepts to myself, with this course it goes into fine detail of these principles and the fantastic benefits of using James’ ruthless logic, and The Core Diagnostic Process, a process in which is a series of ordered tests to determine what is correct with the vehicle (at some point, driven by logic, correctly ordered testing and data to support decisions) where you will arrive at the correct cause of the fault. The course also highlights personal misconceptions and areas of personal development which l urgently require to address.
